PETER,
who lives in a small town
called Oud-Beijerland,
was born on January 2nd,
1963 in Rotterdam. He
got hold on his first
drum sticks when he was
six years old. His mother
sent him to the Rotterdam
Music School where a teacher
gave him a couple of drum
sticks in his hands and
a tambourine to play.
Soon he joined an orchestra
and he became the 'main'
drummer for the complex
musical pieces.
|
| After
years of nagging Peter got
his first real drumset at
the age of fourteen. It
was a Maxwin (made by Pearl).
He played along with LP
records of Genesis, ELP,
Deep Purple, Yes and Rush
(on these records his favourite
drummers Phil Collins, Carl
Palmer, Ian Paice, Bill
Bruford and Neal Peart could
be heard). |
|
Peter
was soon recognized as
an innovative drummer
with an 'aggressive' style
of playing. Partly thanks
to teachers like Anno
Appelo and the "snare
master" Jan Schipper
he was asked by several
local bands as a drummer.
Among them were rock,
new wave and punk bands
with names like the The
Spurt, Titbits and Name
It.
